Anti-Discrimination Policy

Anti-Discrimination Policy “Europlus”

Europlus adheres to Article 1 of the Constitution.

“All persons in the Netherlands shall be treated equally in equal circumstances. Discrimination on the grounds of religion, belief, political opinion, race, sex, disability, sexual orientation or on any other grounds whatsoever shall not be permitted.”

Discrimination means treating people unequally based on personal characteristics that are not relevant to determining rights and obligations within a particular area of social life. In doing so, people are disadvantaged because of these characteristics. This is prohibited because the law prescribes that equal cases must be treated equally, without distinction. Everyone is equal before the law — and that applies at Europlus too!

Our statement:

Europlus takes a strong stance against discrimination and actively commits to an inclusive and respectful working environment. Under no circumstances do we accept discriminatory behavior in any form whatsoever. Every person is treated equally by us, regardless of origin, orientation, religion, disability or gender.

We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, valued and respected — both at work, at home and in society. Therefore, we hold each other accountable for behavior that conflicts with these values and take appropriate measures when necessary. Europlus aims to be an organization where diversity is embraced and where differences actually contribute to our strength and quality.

On July 1, 2023, the Good Landlordship Act (hereinafter: “Wgv”) came into effect. The purpose of the law is to prevent undesirable rental practices, including those affecting labor migrants. The law contains general standards of conduct for landlords (and powers for municipalities to supervise compliance).

In the context of the Wgv, Europlus considered it desirable to draft and publish this anti-discrimination policy. Although this may seem somewhat unusual, given that we specifically serve a vulnerable group — labor migrants — it is nevertheless important to consider this carefully and communicate our policy clearly. Various reports in Dutch media show that discrimination, although prohibited by law, still occurs frequently.

When facilitating accommodation, Europlus applies only one criterion: the temporary need for housing in connection with work in the Netherlands. As an employment agency for labor migrants, this is part of our service, and the selection of tenants takes place exclusively on the basis of these functional criteria. Other factors play no role in this.

Everyone who works or wishes to work through Europlus can, in principle, make use of the available accommodation. Europlus does not apply any grounds for exclusion that would conflict with the prohibition of discrimination.
